Streptococcus pseudopneumoniae is a Gram-positive, alpha-haemolytic coccus in the family Streptococcaceae, phenotypically intermediate between Streptococcus pneumoniae and Streptococcus mitis. It colonises the human upper respiratory tract and has been recovered from sputum of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, lower respiratory tract infections, and occasionally blood cultures. S. pseudopneumoniae is optochin-sensitive in CO2 but resistant in ambient air, bile-insoluble, and lacks a true pneumococcal capsule, and its genome shows extensive recombination with both S. pneumoniae and S. mitis.

How to read this: A value outside a failure limit fails QC. Within the failure limits, values beyond a warning limit are borderline and worth a manual look; values within the warning limits pass that criterion. A dash means that no bound is defined on that side.
