Streptococcus canis is a Gram-positive, beta-haemolytic coccus of the family Streptococcaceae, belonging to Lancefield group G. It is a commensal and pathogen of dogs and cats, causing skin infections, septicaemia, and necrotising fasciitis, and can occasionally be transmitted to humans, where it causes wound infections and bacteraemia. Genomically, S. canis carries virulence genes homologous to those in S. pyogenes, including M-like protein and streptolysin, reflecting shared pathogenic strategies within the pyogenic streptococci.

How to read this: A value outside a failure limit fails QC. Within the failure limits, values beyond a warning limit are borderline and worth a manual look; values within the warning limits pass that criterion. A dash means that no bound is defined on that side.
