Fusobacterium necrophorum is a Gram-negative, obligately anaerobic, pleomorphic rod in the family Fusobacteriaceae, commonly found in the oropharynx and gastrointestinal tract of humans and animals. It is the primary causative agent of Lemierre syndrome (postanginal septic thrombophlebitis of the internal jugular vein), as well as peritonsillar abscesses, liver abscesses, and other invasive infections, predominantly in previously healthy young adults. F. necrophorum produces the leukotoxin LktA, a key virulence factor that targets neutrophils and is essential for tissue invasion and systemic dissemination.

How to read this: A value outside a failure limit fails QC. Within the failure limits, values beyond a warning limit are borderline and worth a manual look; values within the warning limits pass that criterion. A dash means that no bound is defined on that side.
