Campylobacter upsaliensis is a Gram-negative, microaerophilic, spiral-shaped rod of the family Campylobacteraceae, commonly carried in the gastrointestinal tract of dogs and cats. It is an emerging cause of human gastroenteritis and bacteraemia, likely underdiagnosed because standard isolation media containing antibiotics inhibit its growth. C. upsaliensis has a relatively small genome and, unlike most pathogenic campylobacters, typically lacks the cytolethal distending toxin (CDT) locus, suggesting alternative mechanisms of pathogenesis.

How to read this: A value outside a failure limit fails QC. Within the failure limits, values beyond a warning limit are borderline and worth a manual look; values within the warning limits pass that criterion. A dash means that no bound is defined on that side.
