Aerococcus urinae is a Gram-positive, alpha-haemolytic coccus in the family Aerococcaceae, typically arranged in tetrads or clusters. It is an emerging urinary tract pathogen, most commonly affecting elderly men, and can progress to serious invasive infections including infective endocarditis and bacteraemia if left untreated. A. urinae has a relatively small genome and is frequently misidentified as an enterococcus or streptococcus by conventional methods, though MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry and 16S rRNA sequencing have improved its recognition in clinical laboratories.

How to read this: A value outside a failure limit fails QC. Within the failure limits, values beyond a warning limit are borderline and worth a manual look; values within the warning limits pass that criterion. A dash means that no bound is defined on that side.
