Yersinia enterocolitica is a Gram-negative, facultatively anaerobic rod in the family Yersiniaceae and a common cause of foodborne gastroenteritis, mesenteric lymphadenitis, and terminal ileitis, particularly in cooler temperate regions. Transmission typically occurs through contaminated pork, milk, or water, and the organism can grow at refrigeration temperatures. Pathogenic biotypes of Y. enterocolitica carry a virulence plasmid (pYV) encoding a type III secretion system, while chromosomal pathogenicity islands contribute additional invasion and iron-uptake functions.

How to read this: A value outside a failure limit fails QC. Within the failure limits, values beyond a warning limit are borderline and worth a manual look; values within the warning limits pass that criterion. A dash means that no bound is defined on that side.
