Vibrio vulnificus is a Gram-negative, curved rod of the family Vibrionaceae found in warm, brackish coastal waters, notorious for causing rapidly fatal septicaemia and necrotising wound infections in immunocompromised individuals. It has one of the highest case-fatality rates of any foodborne pathogen, particularly following raw oyster consumption or wound exposure to seawater. V. vulnificus genomes harbour a range of virulence factors including a polysaccharide capsule, MARTX toxin, and iron-acquisition systems, with biotype and lineage classification reflecting distinct clinical and ecological niches.

How to read this: A value outside a failure limit fails QC. Within the failure limits, values beyond a warning limit are borderline and worth a manual look; values within the warning limits pass that criterion. A dash means that no bound is defined on that side.
