Streptococcus suis is a Gram-positive, facultatively anaerobic coccus of the family Streptococcaceae, and a major pathogen of pigs causing meningitis, septicaemia, arthritis, and endocarditis. It is also a significant zoonotic agent, particularly in Southeast Asia, where occupational exposure to pigs can lead to severe meningitis and streptococcal toxic shock-like syndrome in humans. Genomically, S. suis is classified into at least 29 serotypes based on capsular polysaccharide, with serotype 2 being the most virulent and best studied, and its large pangenome reflects extensive genetic diversity and horizontal gene transfer.

How to read this: A value outside a failure limit fails QC. Within the failure limits, values beyond a warning limit are borderline and worth a manual look; values within the warning limits pass that criterion. A dash means that no bound is defined on that side.
