Streptococcus salivarius is a Gram-positive, alpha-haemolytic coccus of the family Streptococcaceae within the salivarius group of viridans streptococci. It is one of the earliest and most abundant colonisers of the human oral mucosa and tongue, generally considered a commensal with probiotic potential, though it can occasionally cause bacteraemia and endocarditis. Genomically, S. salivarius possesses genes encoding urease, fructosyltransferase, and bacteriocins (salivaricins) that contribute to its ecological fitness in the oral and upper respiratory niches.

How to read this: A value outside a failure limit fails QC. Within the failure limits, values beyond a warning limit are borderline and worth a manual look; values within the warning limits pass that criterion. A dash means that no bound is defined on that side.
