Streptococcus pyogenes (group A Streptococcus, GAS) is a Gram-positive, beta-haemolytic coccus of the family Streptococcaceae, classified as Lancefield group A. It causes a broad range of human diseases from pharyngitis and impetigo to life-threatening necrotising fasciitis, streptococcal toxic shock syndrome, and the post-infectious sequelae acute rheumatic fever and glomerulonephritis. Genomically, S. pyogenes is typed by the hypervariable emm gene encoding M protein, has a relatively conserved core genome, and carries numerous prophage-encoded superantigens and virulence factors that drive strain-specific pathogenicity.
Derived from 43,186 genomes: 448 from RefSeq and 42,738 from other sources. For the derivation pipeline and the PASS / WARN / FAIL verdict model, see the methods page for qualibact-v1.0.

How to read this: A value outside a failure limit fails QC. Within the failure limits, values beyond a warning limit are borderline and worth a manual look; values within the warning limits pass that criterion. A dash means that no bound is defined on that side.
