Streptococcus equi is a Gram-positive, beta-haemolytic coccus of the family Streptococcaceae, belonging to Lancefield group C. Subspecies equi is the causative agent of strangles, a highly contagious upper respiratory infection of horses characterised by abscessation of the lymph nodes of the head and neck. Genomically, S. equi subsp. equi evolved from the more genetically diverse subspecies zooepidemicus through genome reduction and acquisition of specific virulence factors, including the superantigen SePE and the antiphagocytic SeM protein.
Derived from 1,833 genomes: 41 from RefSeq and 1,792 from other sources. For the derivation pipeline and the PASS / WARN / FAIL verdict model, see the methods page for qualibact-v1.0.

How to read this: A value outside a failure limit fails QC. Within the failure limits, values beyond a warning limit are borderline and worth a manual look; values within the warning limits pass that criterion. A dash means that no bound is defined on that side.
