Streptococcus anginosus is a Gram-positive coccus of the family Streptococcaceae and a member of the Streptococcus anginosus group (formerly S. milleri), typically exhibiting variable haemolysis. It is a commensal of the oral cavity, gastrointestinal tract, and urogenital tract, but is notable for its strong tendency to cause pyogenic abscesses in the brain, liver, and other deep-seated sites. Genomically, S. anginosus possesses a relatively small streptococcal genome with virulence factors including intermedilysin and genes facilitating abscess formation and tissue invasion.

How to read this: A value outside a failure limit fails QC. Within the failure limits, values beyond a warning limit are borderline and worth a manual look; values within the warning limits pass that criterion. A dash means that no bound is defined on that side.
