Streptococcus agalactiae (group B Streptococcus, GBS) is a Gram-positive, beta-haemolytic coccus of the family Streptococcaceae, commonly colonising the gastrointestinal and genitourinary tracts of healthy adults. It is a leading cause of neonatal sepsis, meningitis, and pneumonia, and increasingly causes invasive disease in elderly and immunocompromised adults. Genomically, S. agalactiae is classified into ten serotypes based on capsular polysaccharide and displays a well-defined clonal population with a substantial accessory genome encoding pili, surface proteins, and antibiotic resistance determinants.

How to read this: A value outside a failure limit fails QC. Within the failure limits, values beyond a warning limit are borderline and worth a manual look; values within the warning limits pass that criterion. A dash means that no bound is defined on that side.
