Staphylococcus xylosus is a coagulase-negative, Gram-positive coccus of the family Staphylococcaceae, commonly found on the skin of mammals and in food environments. It is widely used as a starter culture in fermented meat and dairy products, where it contributes to colour stability and flavour through nitrate reduction and lipid metabolism. S. xylosus has a genome of approximately 2.8 Mb, is generally non-pathogenic, but occasional strains carry antimicrobial resistance genes and have been linked to opportunistic infections in immunocompromised hosts.

How to read this: A value outside a failure limit fails QC. Within the failure limits, values beyond a warning limit are borderline and worth a manual look; values within the warning limits pass that criterion. A dash means that no bound is defined on that side.
