Staphylococcus lugdunensis is a coagulase-negative, Gram-positive coccus of the family Staphylococcaceae, found as a commensal on human skin, especially of the inguinal and perineal regions. Despite being coagulase-negative, it behaves clinically like S. aureus, causing aggressive native-valve endocarditis, skin abscesses, and bone and joint infections with high morbidity. Genomically, S. lugdunensis is notable for a relatively conserved genome, production of the bacteriocin lugdunin, and retention of broad antibiotic susceptibility compared with other coagulase-negative staphylococci.

How to read this: A value outside a failure limit fails QC. Within the failure limits, values beyond a warning limit are borderline and worth a manual look; values within the warning limits pass that criterion. A dash means that no bound is defined on that side.
