Staphylococcus haemolyticus is a coagulase-negative, Gram-positive coccus of the family Staphylococcaceae, commonly residing on human skin, particularly in the axillae and perineum. It is the second most frequently isolated coagulase-negative staphylococcus from blood cultures and is a significant cause of catheter-related bloodstream infections and endocarditis, frequently exhibiting multidrug resistance including heterogeneous resistance to vancomycin. Genomically, S. haemolyticus is notable for extensive insertion sequence content and a highly plastic genome that facilitates rapid acquisition of resistance determinants.

How to read this: A value outside a failure limit fails QC. Within the failure limits, values beyond a warning limit are borderline and worth a manual look; values within the warning limits pass that criterion. A dash means that no bound is defined on that side.
