Parabacteroides merdae is an obligately anaerobic, Gram-negative rod of the family Tannerellaceae and a prevalent commensal of the human gastrointestinal tract. It contributes to intestinal homeostasis through carbohydrate fermentation and has been associated with beneficial effects on metabolic health in several microbiome studies. P. merdae genomes contain numerous polysaccharide utilisation loci and glycoside hydrolase genes, consistent with a saccharolytic lifestyle adapted to the complex carbohydrate-rich environment of the colon.

How to read this: A value outside a failure limit fails QC. Within the failure limits, values beyond a warning limit are borderline and worth a manual look; values within the warning limits pass that criterion. A dash means that no bound is defined on that side.
