Neisseria perflava is a Gram-negative, oxidase-positive diplococcus in the family Neisseriaceae, commonly inhabiting the human oropharynx as a commensal. It is generally non-pathogenic but has been implicated in rare cases of endocarditis, meningitis, and respiratory infections, mainly in patients with underlying conditions. N. perflava is part of a closely related cluster of pharyngeal commensal Neisseria species and participates in interspecies horizontal gene transfer that can disseminate antimicrobial resistance genes across the genus.
Derived from 96 genomes: 2 from RefSeq and 94 from other sources. For the derivation pipeline and the PASS / WARN / FAIL verdict model, see the methods page for qualibact-v1.1.
QualiBact qualibact-v1.1 thresholds for Neisseria perflava, refined from v1.0 based on the expert-feedback survey (Nov 2025).
Contamination upper bound pinned at 3.0% on the recommendation of the N. gonorrhoeae subgroup. The engine's automatic v1.0 derivation lands tighter than is appropriate for the broader commensal Neisseria distribution; 3.0% is the general threshold the expert group recommends across the commensal species.
All other thresholds inherit unchanged from v1.0. See the methods page for qualibact-v1.1 for the full pipeline.
This table summarises the distribution of each metric, including standard deviation, mean, median, and percentiles.

How to read this: A value outside a failure limit fails QC. Within the failure limits, values beyond a warning limit are borderline and worth a manual look; values within the warning limits pass that criterion. A dash means that no bound is defined on that side.
