Mycobacterium intracellulare is a slow-growing, acid-fast bacillus in the family Mycobacteriaceae, and together with M. avium forms the Mycobacterium avium complex (MAC), the most clinically important group of non-tuberculous mycobacteria. It is a frequent cause of chronic pulmonary disease, particularly in elderly individuals with pre-existing lung conditions, and is found widely in water, soil, and household plumbing. The genome of M. intracellulare (~5.4 Mb) shows considerable intraspecific diversity and encodes an array of glycopeptidolipid and lipid biosynthesis genes contributing to biofilm formation and host immune evasion.

How to read this: A value outside a failure limit fails QC. Within the failure limits, values beyond a warning limit are borderline and worth a manual look; values within the warning limits pass that criterion. A dash means that no bound is defined on that side.
