Mycobacterium abscessus is a rapidly growing, acid-fast bacillus in the family Mycobacteriaceae, and the most clinically significant rapidly growing non-tuberculous mycobacterium (NTM). It causes chronic pulmonary infections particularly in individuals with cystic fibrosis or bronchiectasis, as well as skin and soft-tissue infections following trauma or surgery. The genome of M. abscessus (~5.1 Mb) is notable for intrinsic resistance to most antibiotics, an inducible erm(41) macrolide resistance gene, and a smooth-to-rough colony morphotype switch linked to glycopeptidolipid loss and increased virulence.
Derived from 5,573 genomes: 102 from RefSeq and 5,471 from other sources. For the derivation pipeline and the PASS / WARN / FAIL verdict model, see the methods page for qualibact-v1.0.

How to read this: A value outside a failure limit fails QC. Within the failure limits, values beyond a warning limit are borderline and worth a manual look; values within the warning limits pass that criterion. A dash means that no bound is defined on that side.
