Moraxella catarrhalis is an aerobic, Gram-negative diplococcus in the family Moraxellaceae (order Pseudomonadales), and a common commensal of the human upper respiratory tract. It is the third most frequent bacterial cause of acute otitis media in children and is an important trigger of exacerbations in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The genome of M. catarrhalis (~1.9 Mb) reveals two major phylogenetic clades with differing virulence factor profiles, and nearly all clinical isolates produce chromosomally encoded beta-lactamases.

How to read this: A value outside a failure limit fails QC. Within the failure limits, values beyond a warning limit are borderline and worth a manual look; values within the warning limits pass that criterion. A dash means that no bound is defined on that side.
