Klebsiella aerogenes (formerly Enterobacter aerogenes) is a Gram-negative, facultatively anaerobic, encapsulated rod in the family Enterobacteriaceae, found in the environment and the human gastrointestinal tract. It is a significant cause of nosocomial infections including pneumonia, urinary tract infections, bloodstream infections, and surgical-site infections, particularly in intensive care units. K. aerogenes possesses an inducible chromosomal AmpC beta-lactamase and frequently acquires plasmid-mediated carbapenemases and extended-spectrum beta-lactamases, contributing to multidrug-resistant outbreaks.

How to read this: A value outside a failure limit fails QC. Within the failure limits, values beyond a warning limit are borderline and worth a manual look; values within the warning limits pass that criterion. A dash means that no bound is defined on that side.
