Haemophilus parainfluenzae is a Gram-negative, facultatively anaerobic coccobacillus in the family Pasteurellaceae, requiring only the V (NAD) growth factor, and one of the most abundant colonisers of the human oropharynx and dental plaque. Although primarily a commensal, it is a member of the HACEK group and an occasional cause of endocarditis, bacteraemia, pneumonia, and other invasive infections. H. parainfluenzae is taxonomically heterogeneous, and genomic analyses suggest that it may encompass multiple distinct species or genomospecies.

How to read this: A value outside a failure limit fails QC. Within the failure limits, values beyond a warning limit are borderline and worth a manual look; values within the warning limits pass that criterion. A dash means that no bound is defined on that side.
