Escherichia fergusonii is a Gram-negative, facultatively anaerobic rod in the family Enterobacteriaceae, and the closest known phylogenetic relative of Escherichia coli. It is found in the intestinal tract of animals and in environmental sources, and has been associated with opportunistic infections in humans including bacteraemia, urinary tract infections, and wound infections. E. fergusonii can carry virulence and antimicrobial resistance genes similar to those found in pathogenic E. coli, and is likely under-reported due to phenotypic misidentification.

How to read this: A value outside a failure limit fails QC. Within the failure limits, values beyond a warning limit are borderline and worth a manual look; values within the warning limits pass that criterion. A dash means that no bound is defined on that side.
