Cronobacter sakazakii is a Gram-negative, motile, facultatively anaerobic rod in the family Enterobacteriaceae, found ubiquitously in the environment including dried foods such as powdered infant formula. It is a significant neonatal pathogen causing meningitis, necrotising enterocolitis, and bacteraemia with high mortality in premature and low-birth-weight infants. C. sakazakii possesses an array of virulence factors including outer-membrane proteins, a metalloprotease, and the ability to form resilient biofilms that enhance its persistence in desiccated environments.

How to read this: A value outside a failure limit fails QC. Within the failure limits, values beyond a warning limit are borderline and worth a manual look; values within the warning limits pass that criterion. A dash means that no bound is defined on that side.
