Corynebacterium diphtheriae is a Gram-positive, non-spore-forming, club-shaped rod of the family Corynebacteriaceae within the order Mycobacteriales, and the causative agent of diphtheria. Toxigenic strains carry the tox gene on a lysogenic corynephage, encoding diphtheria toxin which inhibits host protein synthesis and causes the characteristic pseudomembranous pharyngitis and systemic toxicity. C. diphtheriae genomes are approximately 2.5 Mb in size and show considerable accessory genome variation, including diverse prophage content and antimicrobial resistance determinants in non-toxigenic invasive lineages.

How to read this: A value outside a failure limit fails QC. Within the failure limits, values beyond a warning limit are borderline and worth a manual look; values within the warning limits pass that criterion. A dash means that no bound is defined on that side.
