Citrobacter freundii is a Gram-negative, facultatively anaerobic rod of the family Enterobacteriaceae, widely distributed in soil, water, sewage, and the human gastrointestinal tract. It is a clinically significant opportunistic pathogen causing urinary tract infections, pneumonia, bacteraemia, and neonatal meningitis, with increasing importance in healthcare-associated infections. C. freundii carries a chromosomally encoded inducible AmpC beta-lactamase and frequently acquires plasmid-mediated extended-spectrum beta-lactamases and carbapenemases, making it a growing antimicrobial resistance concern.

How to read this: A value outside a failure limit fails QC. Within the failure limits, values beyond a warning limit are borderline and worth a manual look; values within the warning limits pass that criterion. A dash means that no bound is defined on that side.
