Bacillus spizizenii is an aerobic, endospore-forming Gram-positive rod in the family Bacillaceae, closely related to B. subtilis and formerly classified as B. subtilis subsp. spizizenii. It is found primarily in soil and has been used as a laboratory model organism, with several widely used "B. subtilis" strains (e.g., W23) now reclassified as B. spizizenii. Genomically, B. spizizenii differs from B. subtilis sensu stricto in its cell-wall teichoic acid biosynthesis genes and ribosomal protein sequences, while retaining the natural competence and sporulation capabilities characteristic of the B. subtilis species complex.

How to read this: A value outside a failure limit fails QC. Within the failure limits, values beyond a warning limit are borderline and worth a manual look; values within the warning limits pass that criterion. A dash means that no bound is defined on that side.
